The Wrindex on
CD - Access® version
The 560,000 + line item Wrindex in
Microsoft Access ® database format. You must have Microsoft Access® database
version 7 or later, and Microsoft Windows 95® or later. The Access version
is designed for printing in a landscape format on 8 1/2" x 14" (legal size)
paper, enabling printing an entire item on a single line. This facilitates
rapid analysis of lengthy printouts. There are six sorts of the main
database, and the user can design additional custom queries, if desired.
$ 39.95, including shipping. (First Class Mail)
The Early
San Francisco Newspaper Index
The Early San
Francisco Newspaper Index is a version of The Wrindex developed
to run independently of Access®, and it can be used on any PC. This allows
researchers who do not have Access® to benefit from the vast amount of data
in The Wrindex. Very simple to install and operate, it
features a single screen for searching and printing. Pulling from the same
560,000 line item database as The Wrindex, you can sort by name or
society quickly and easily, and output the same listing information. The
ESFNI also retains the database on the CD during operation, so the huge
database does not take up space on your hard drive. $ 29.95, including
shipping. (First Class Mail)
Researching is often like looking for the
needle in a haystack. But when you use The Wrindex or the ESFNI,
you already know where the “needle” is!
Over 150 “Needles” Found!
We ordered the Early
San Francisco Newspaper Index because several people had contacted us
looking for information on Irish ancestors in early SF. We were delighted
when the very first search yielded over 150 listings for relatives of the
researcher - and so was she!

Voluntarism Big Time:
An Action
Adventure Chronology Following the Arrivals in Early San Francisco of a
Devout Young Painter and a Devout Young Blacksmith
By Thomas J. Wrin, 92
pages, softbound.
©2004,
ISBN 0-9771500-0-3
The Irish residents
of early San Francisco established over 2000 societies to give themselves
the strength in numbers to accomplish major objectives for the improvement
of their lives. This book documents the roles of James R. Kelly and Michael
J. Wrin in the organizing of many of those Irish societies and causes in
early San Francisco. From 1855 to the early 1900s, these two men were truly
voluntarism in action. Together, and separately, they organized hundreds of
benevolent societies and actions. This chronology of their actions is a
unique record of the successful voluntarism movement on the West Coast in
that era. The chronology was compiled using The Wrindex database, and
is extensively footnoted with source data. $ 24.95, including shipping.
